China and ROK Hold 2020 Fisheries Enforcement Meeting

From 8 to 9 September 2020, China Coast Guard (CCG) and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries of the Republic of Korea (MOF-ROK) co-hosted the 2020 China-Korea Fisheries Enforcement Meeting via video link Representatives from China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, China Fisheries Association and ROK’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Korea Coast Guard (KCG), the ROK embassy in China and the Korea Fisheries Association participated in the event. In a friendly and practical atmosphere, the two sides summarized their work on maintaining order in waters tentatively designated by the China-ROK Fisheries Agreement since the last meeting in 2019 and spoke highly of the positive outcomes.

The two sides believed that the close cooperation and joint efforts of relevant departments of both countries have continuously improved the fishery production order and facilitated maritime stability. They exchanged views on further intensifying fishing vessel management and law enforcement cooperation. They agreed to continue the close communication and friendly consultation in order to keep the maritime operation order. The two sides also reached a broad consensus on joint patrol, information exchange, and other topics.
