In accordance with the consensus reached by China Coast Guard (CCG) and Vietnam Coast Guard (VCG) during their third High Level Meeting, the CCG Vessel 4302 and 4204, and the VCG Vessel CSB 8003 and CSB 8004 conducted their first joint fisheries inspection in 2020 on the shared fishing grounds in the Beibu Gulf from April 21 to 23, 2020. The ships sailed 220 nautical miles cumulatively over 50.5 hours, during which they followed the pre-made plan and pre-set route and observed and recorded 1 Chinese and 20 Vietnamese fishing vessels passing the area. The Coast Guard officers also conducted education among the fishermen to maintain the order of maritime production and activities.

The China-Vietnam Joint Fisheries Inspection on Shared Fishing Grounds in the Beibu Gulf was inaugurated in 2006. It has played an important role in promoting the exchanges and cooperation between the maritime law enforcement agencies of the two countries and maintaining the fishing production order at the Beibu Gulf. Next, the CCG and the VCG will continue to strengthen their law enforcement exchange and cooperation under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Cooperation Between China Coast Guard and Vietnam Coast Guard and jointly keep the Beibu Gulf safe and stable.
